What do I do?!? Teacher Frustrations

OKay so yesterday I started in on a two and a half day treck with one class while their teacher is gone. I thought yesterday didn't go so well because they had their teacher for the first half of the day and so I just thought it was them thinking they could get by with things because she wasn't there. Today... they start out pretty good and we have a couple of rough parts through out the morning but I thought it still went pretty good. Then they come back from lunch and oh my goodness eveything falls apart- Yesterday I did what she said and sent them by tables to the bathroom after lunch but it took longer then I would have liked so today I take them as a class (as I saw another teacher do) and it doesn't take long before three boys come out saying some boy threw another boy's shoe in the toilet and the story proceeds to change several times. So we go back to the class and have a discussion on being respectful and kind and so forth. It seemed to work for a few minutes but then they start in again. It is like they don't even hear my voice! I don't like to yell, I think you should be able to control children with out yelling at them, but I even raised my voice today and it didn't work! I have tried her way of getting their attention (counting 1, 2, 3, and they say it back to me) Nothing! I try it my way (start out with five marbles and it can go up or down from there!) Nothing!!! Oh yeah I should explain the marbles-if they get the jar full of marbles they get a halloween party-so I told them we will start the day with five mables and it can go up or down from there depending on how they act. Yesterday it worked ok but today.. no affect. I am at my witts end-I have NEVER had this much trouble with kids!!! The teacher across the hall (who is really good friends with the real teacher) even came over, sent me into the hall, and proceeded to chew on them like crazy-there were a few that were crying when I came back in but once again that only lasted for a few minutes before they were back to ignoring me again. It hurts because I have never had this much trouble with kids and I have somewhat of a reputation in this school-so far every teacher has liked my work-I even have teachers telling other teachers to request me and I feel like I failed those teachers today!!! I know that I can only do my best and that's all that counts but I try really hard to watch other teachers and find out what they do trying to get ideas cause kids are so very different so they require different forms of rules and discipline! I even try to make sure I do what the teacher that I'm subbing for does so that it is close to their routine but I have no clue what to do anymore and I still have a full day on Monday! So for whoever reads this any suggestions are welcomed. Please pray that I will have the patience needed for Monday and keep a meek and quiet spirit-these kids still need me to be a godly woman and show them the love of Christ!

The Simple Woman's Daybook

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...
Outside My Window...It is cold and dark the breeze has a bite to it.
I am thinking...it is about time to go to bed and tomorrow is very busy
From my learning room... don't really have one yet unless you count the jr. church-crazy sometimes
I am thankful for...all that God allows me to do, my husband and son, and for family and friends
From the kitchen...it is finally cleaned after a few crazy days! I love my kitchen-it has one red wall with rockwell pictures on the border and I got my favorite table and chairs from friends-I have the coolest plate set ever and a kitchen aid! =)
I am wearing...a pair of capris (made from pants!), a brown undershirt, and and a button up stripped shirt
I am reading... nothing but the bible for the time being-I usually read on trips other wise I get so wrapped up in the book that I don't get house work done until the book is done ={
I am hoping...that my casserole for tomorrow comes out right
I am creating...oh I don't know what to say on this-I have been working on the yard and it's starting to look better-we have planted oleanders and I can't wait to see them grow
I am hearing...the t.v. and my dog chewing on her rawhide
Around the house... everything is pretty well ready for tomorrow except the living room and it doesn't do any good to pick that up until right before we go to bed cause it will just get messed up again =) My house is getting to where I want it-sometimes I don't feel like my house looks classy enough to have people over but it is getting there and I look forward to the day I can host dinners for people of the church
One of my favorite things...is staying at home and relaxing, shopping and spending time with my husband
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...Well my week is almost over but the weekend is busy we have three games and I have a ladies meeting tomorrow. Next week I work afternoon at the elementary school on Mon. Tues. and Thurs. and a full day on Friday. OH and Round Up Sunday is on the 26th so we are getting ready for that.
I love being able to let people know about my life-I'm normally pretty quiet but sometimes I do come out of my shell and actually talk =) Hope you enjoy!

The Children of Today

I have been subbing at the elementary schools here in T or C for over a month now and it never stops amazing me to see how different children act. Today I had to break up a fight between two thirds graders and had to make them apologize to each other. I go to work and watch these kids and you can tell what their parents are like and what home life is like just by what they do at school and how they react to different situations. It frustrates me to no end when I see these children get mad and throw fits all because they came to school mad or hurt because of something going on at home. Parents have stopped paying attention to their children, there is no consistency, or real discipline. They no longer teach their children to be respectful of talking adults, to respect each others privacy or to be kind and gentle to each other. I worked in pre-k today (I know I said I broke up a fight-that was lunch duty) and to see the bright faces and eagerness to learn was refreshing. It hurts when David and I try to help our bus kids and teens understand right from wrong but then the parents are doing the exact opposite from the bible and yet they want their kids to do right. Sometimes I wonder how David and I will be as parents and when I start thinking about it I have to start praying. All I have to say is that I hope and pray that God will use us to reach these kids, they are our future.

Update

Here is an update on our life (request of a friend)- Things have been going really good. There have been a few times when it seemes like nothing is going good but God is always good to us. My numbers have continued to stay low which is a blessing. Last week when I went in for my Hcg blood work I also had to get a C.M.P. which is to check and make sure that all levels are okay and that eveything in my system is working right. I have a CT Scan tomorrow-I have to be there at 8:00a.m. to drink the stuff and then my Scan is at 9:00. Today I got a phone call from my OB-GYN and she reminded me that when we are ready to start trying again that I need to let her know and set up an appointment to make sure that my body is ready for it. The cancer doctor had told us that we should wait at least a year (two if it was up to her) so David and I have decided we ARE going to wait till June of next year cause that will be a year from my last chemo treatment. Today I realized that it has already been 7 months since the miscarriage! I can't believe how time has flown and I know that we will blink and it will be June already. Sometimes I do get the baby fever but I also have complete peace that we are suppose to wait the full year. Today we went out to Keagen's grave and it brought back alot of memories. I have been subbing at the elementary schools here in town and I have worked alot with the special needs kids and it always makes me think about him and it makes me thankful that God spared him all the pain that he would have had to go through had he lived. I miss him alot but I know that I have a true PERFECT baby!!! and for that I am grateful. =)
